The Nature of Wellbeing

There are lots of different dimensions to wellbeing and this week will feature lots of activities that will help us to improve different aspects of our wellbeing.

See the full image

SOCIAL

Our wellbeing is greatly influenced by the way we connect socially. Loneliness is one of the great problems of our age and we will have lots of opportunities to make meaningful connections with others in our Community.

PHYSICAL

Probably the best understood of the different aspects of wellbeing. Being as fit as possible, within any physical constraints, will make a difference to our overall wellbeing.

MENTAL

There are lots of ways of improving our mental wellbeing, which interacts with the social, physical and spiritual. We are concentrating on particular activities centred on mindfulness and also nutrition.

SPIRITUAL

Helping to understand our place in the universe and our relationship with the divine.

Some Highlights of the Programme

Here are a few of the events that we have planned during the week

Printed Programme

Working together with the Friends of the Rec we have produced a booklet with details of all the Wellbeing Week events as well as the upcoming Friends of the rec events.
A copy will be delivered to all homes in Histon and Impington before the week start, but you can download you copy here.

Download the Booklet

We are sorry but we have spotted a few errors in the printed booklet which are correct in the downloadable version:
– Wellbeing Tea is on Wednesday not Tuesday
– Health MOT is at the Kay Hitch Way Community Centre not the Rose and Crown
– The Regular Quiz with a Wellbeing Theme at the Railway Vue  will be at 9pm not 7:30pm
– Introduction to Archery is now only on 5th May not the 12th May

There are also two events that were missed from the printed programme:

Histon Cricket Club All Stars 2019 Sunday 12th May 10-11am on the Recreation Ground
Library Coffee Morning with Mindful Activities Thursday 9th May 10am-12noon at Histon Library

Joining In

One of the best ways of improving our wellbeing is to join in with activities in our community. This builds our sense of connection with others and can be great fun. We are lucky to live in a community with a huge range of different things that we can get involved in. So why not drop in to the Activities Fair on Saturday 4th May 10:30am-1:00pm in the Saint Andrew’s Centre
